North America's manufacturing sector has been ravaged by a decades-long effort by multi-national corporations to shift work to developing countries farther and farther away from our borders. The low wages, non-existent benefits and poor working conditions in those countries are held over North American workers' heads to force even more concessions from workers here at home.

But thousands of manufacturing workers in the U.S. are fighting back. They have turned to the United Mine Workers of America to represent them and ensure that their employment rights under law are protected. Drawing on a militant tradition well over a century old, the UMWA provides a strong and united presence at the bargaining table to neutralize the attacks from global employers and their allies in government on working families.
